Raj serves as the Head of ICR Capital’s Convertible & Equity Derivatives Advisory team where he focuses on complex capital markets transactions across all industry verticals. Raj advises boards and management teams on structuring and executing convertible debt transactions, convertible preferred and mandatory offerings, structured share repurchases, capped calls and call spreads, hedging and monetization strategies (including collars, variable prepaid forwards, margin loans, etc), and warrant management solutions.
Raj joined ICR Capital from Matthews South, where he was the Head of Technology Origination advising clients on multiple convertible and equity derivatives transactions. Previously, Raj spent 15 years at Barclays where he was a Managing Director in the Equity Linked & Hybrid Solutions team and led the origination efforts across several sectors. During his career, Raj has advised on and executed more than 200 convertible and equity-derivatives transactions totaling $100bn+ of deal value. Raj started his banking career at Lehman Brothers, and before that, he was an Immigration & Foreign Policy Fellow at the office of then-Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Born and raised in Bangladesh, Raj came to the United States 21 years ago and graduated from the University of Texas with High Honors in Government. An avid traveler, Raj has traveled to 70+ countries in all 7 continents. For his contribution to the immigrant community as well as his banking career, he was named one of the “50 Outstanding Asian-Americans in Business.” Raj lives in Jersey City, New Jersey with his wife and their adorable mini goldendoodle.
